Our History

Catholicism came to Irondequoit over 100 years ago, with the founding of St. Salome Church on Culver Road by Sea Breeze. St. Salome was joined by St. Thomas the Apostle in 1922. St. Margaret Mary, St. Cecilia and Christ the King soon followed.

In 2010, all five parishes were combined into one and placed under the patronage of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, a Native American born in Fonda, New York and baptized by the Jesuit Missionaries who came to catechize the native people.

The history of our five parish sites follows;
