Pope Benedict XVI's Quote on Stewardship

"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent and treasure. Therefore, please accept my encouragement for your efforts and my prayers that your upcoming conference will be a stimulus to the practice of stewardship in the Church." His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI

Stewardship Prayer

Dear Lord,
Teach me to be generous as You have been generous to me. Teach me that all that I am and have are gifts from You, and these gifts are meant to be shared.
Reveal to me the joys of generosity. Help me to understand that others, perhaps unknown to me, depend on my assistance.
Keep me ever mindful that as Your disciple, I am called to be a "Good Samaritan" and to share the "Good News" with the world.
Make me a gift to others in Your name.
Amen.

''' Give Back From All That God Has Given You…'''

  • TIME - In today’s hectic world, time can be our most valuable commodity. If you can give up one hour a month or more, there are plenty of great things you can do for our parish—together with other parishioners, or by yourself. For those who cannot commit time on a regular basis, various annual events, such as Spring Clean-Up Day, provide the chance to volunteer for an hour or two.
  • TALENT - God gives each of us beautiful and unique gifts in the form of talent which can make a meaningful difference to the future of our Parish. No matter what your aptitude, there are lots of ways you can put your talents to good use for the parish.
  • TREASURE - Material blessings are, perhaps, the easiest to count. Whether your income comes from your labors, pensions or investments, there are ways to contribute incrementally to Bl. Kateri without enduring a financial hardship.

Why Does Bl. Kateri Need Your Help?
To continue meeting your spiritual and social needs, we need to face many challenges together:

  • We have experienced a loss of revenue over the past several years. This has made it harder to meet rising expenses.
  • Most of our buildings are over fifty-five years old. Their deterioration needs immediate attention to prevent serious problems in the future.
  • We face mounting pressures to pay just wages to our parish staff.

The professional and personal commitment of our staff members is exceptional. How we compensate them is not.
We all continue to experience rising costs of living in providing for our basic needs, and our parish is no exception. Yet, the Parish does not get cost-of-living raises, nor can we get a second job. Instead, we must trust in the generosity of our Parishioners.

Each of us is bestowed with abundant blessings every day of our lives. This Stewardship initiative provides a concrete way to thank God while positively impacting your life, that of your Church and those of generations to come.

We ask you to consider your priorities of Treasure at this time.
Examine the choices and priorities you set for you, your family and for your parish family. If each of us comes forward to help, we can easily meet our collective challenges together.

Leaving a Lasting Testimony of your beliefs and values
Leave a Legacy to Bl. Kateri Parish...
Continue your Values and Beliefs in the church through a Planned Gift. Such a gift, transferred at some future date, would direct some of your treasure to help provide services and benefits the parish needs to help parishioners in need.
The Result - An Investment in People! A planned gift will help ensure the tradition of caring you have helped to build in our parish to continue and be a lasting imprint.
Many options are available for you to help the church continue its service in the future. The following are some examples which can be further explained in more detail upon request:

  1. Bequests - A will can be general or specific e.g. a set amount or a percentage like 5%, 7%, etc.
  2. Life Insurance - An irrevocable gift often provides a tax advantage.
  3. Charitable Gift Annuity - Provides a tax advantage and some income to the giver.
  4. Tangible Personal Property - Many types or items can be gifted with a tax advantage; e.g. vehicles, art, stamp, coin collection, etc.
  5. Outright Gift of Funds - CD's, IRA's, Savings
  6. Memorial Gifts can be designated for Bl. Kateri to honor a Loved One.

Our Commitment to you for your Gift. Your donation will get the best possible use.

Recognition of Your Gift.

How would a Planned Gift Affect Your Family? Since a planned gift is tailored to you and your family, it would not unduly infringe on your desire to leave benefits to your family, relatives or friends.

Who is a Christian steward?
Why is the 'stewardship lifestyle' so important to the Christian disciple?
Why is stewardship a lifelong process?
What does the term “time, talent, and treasure” mean?
What does a Catholic steward look like?
What are the challenges and rewards of stewardship?
  • Some reflection questions:

1. What resources, talents, and abilities has God given me? Do I use them in service to others? How might I take the next step to become a more effective steward?

2. What qualities in the life of Jesus provide a model for living and an example of good stewardship? How might they compare to my own life and lived experience?

3. If I am to work to be an effective Christian steward, with the help of God's grace, what will it cost me in terms of personal sacrifice and hardship? Am I willing to take the next step?

4. How am I reaching out to invite others to recognize their gifts? What opportunities do I provide for them to employ those gifts for the good of the community?
